BIBLICAL VIRTUE GROUP

Because I value God's teaching in the Bible, I choose to believe and follow its teachings.

What To Believe

The Son

The Bible teaches that God the Son created the world. He became human, while remaining Divine, and lived and died to save me. Therefore, I know God better and can be saved.

I choose to believe the Bible teaching of God, the Son.

Definition

God the Son became truly human in Jesus Christ. Through Him all things were created, the character of God is revealed, the salvation of humanity is accomplished, and the world is judged. He suffered and died on the cross for our sins and in our place, was raised from the dead, and will come again to restore what was lost as a result of humanity's sin.

Student Life Applications

I learn from the Bible that Jesus Christ is God the Son. Because of this I will:

See Jesus as more than just a “good man” or a “great teacher” but God the Son and fully Divine;
Speak His name with reverence, never in exclamation, slang or curse;
See His life as my example and through His power live as He did;
Live joyfully in the knowledge of His saving work for me and others;
Tell others how He changed my life and about His work in Heaven and about His soon coming;

Student Activities

1. By What Name?: Introduce yourself with full name and nickname. Form trios and have students tell each other their names and nicknames. Then search in the Bible for the different names that refer to Jesus.
2. Love in Action: Give each student 10 paper hearts to use as coupons. Write on each heart something that you can do for another one. These heart coupons are a way you can show love to each other. Blindfold each and walk around slowly. When you bump into someone you give one of your hearts. After a few minutes everyone sits down. Read Colossians 3:12-14. The Bible encourages us to give love away. Take your hearts home and use them as a reminder to show love to the people around you.

3. Can't Blow It Out: You will need a trick candle from the birthday candle section of the supermarket. (The kind that relights itself). Say: "Think of one thing you could do that might make God stop loving you. After I light the candle, say that thing, then blow out this candle." Light the candle and say: "This is God's love." Afterward ask: "How is the candle like God's love? How is it different? Read Romans 8:37-39 and discuss the continuing love of Jesus.

God the eternal Son became incarnate in Jesus Christ. Through Him all things were created, the character of God is revealed, the salvation of humanity is accomplished, and the world is judged. Forever truly God, He became also truly man, Jesus the Crhist. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived an dexperienced temptation as a human being, but perfectly exemplified the righteouness and love of God. By HIs miracles h emanifested God's power and was attested as God's promised Messiah. He suffered and died voluntarily on the cross for our sins and in our place, was raised from the dead, and ascended to minister in the heavenly sanctuary in our behalf. He will come again in glory for the final deliverance of His people and the restoration of all things.—Fundamental Beliefs, 4.
