Student Life Applications

The Bible teaches that the Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost is God and part of the Trinity. Because of this, I will:

Seek comfort from Him as the Bible instructs;
Learn from Him about the saving work of Jesus Christ, God the Son;
Ask for the His presence and guidance whenever I read the Bible or talk about spiritual things;
Learn about the spiritual gifts He gives His church and how I am to use them in His work;
Have peace knowing that God is near me to teach and protect;

Bible, E.G. White

Who is the Holy Spirit? – Acts 15:28 – “It seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us...”
The Holy Spirit is Truly God – Ephesians 4:30 – “the Holy Spirit of God”
The Holy Spirit and the Godhead – Matthew 1:18-20
John 16:7-11 He will reprove the world of sin.

Student Activities

1. Previously arrange for students to record their voices on a tape. They are to say, "Praise the Lord" into the tape recorder. Read John 10:14-16 and ask the students to identify the voice of each of their classmates. Is it easy or difficult to identify other people's voices? Is it easy or difficult to identify God's voice? How can we be sure to hear God's voice? Discuss the idea that we get to know God better through reading His Word and letting the Holy Spirit give us ideas.

2. Who's Watching: Write each student's name on a slip of paper. Fold and let the students draw a name. Have each student watch the person whose name he chose. They should keep that person within sight at all times but not let the other person know who's watching. The object of the game is to discover who's watching you without letting that person know he has been discovered and without letting your own person out of sight. After three minutes make the discoveries. Read Jeremiah 32:17-19 and discuss God's constant watch-care for you.

God the eternal Spirit was active with the Father and the Son in creation, incarnation, and redemption. He inspired the writer of Scripture. He filled Christ's life with power. He draws and convicts human beings; and those who respond He renews and transforms into the image of God. Sent by the Father and the Son to be always with His children, He extends spiritual gifts to the church, empowers it to bear witness to Christ, and in harmony with the Scriptures leads it into all truth.—Fundamental Beliefs, 5.
