BIBLICAL VIRTUE GROUP

Because I value God's teaching in the Bible, I choose to believe and follow its teachings.

What To Believe

The Lord's Supper

The Bible teaches that Jesus washed the disciples' feet as a symbol of His humility and their need for spiritual cleansing. Jesus took unraised bread and pure grape juice and said they were symbols of His body and blood that were sacrificed for my sins. Therefore, I remember Christ's humility and sacrifice by participating in the Lord's Supper.

I choose to believe the Bible teaching of the Lord's Supper.

Definition

God gives spiritual gifts (talents) to each member of His church. This is so that they can all work together, to help each other grow more like Christ and to make the church a stronger power for good in the world.

Student Life Applications

Taking the special cracker and grape juice as sysmbols of Christ's body and blood shed for me;
Remembering what Jesus did to save me;
Thinking of what I deserved for my sins that Jesus paid for me;
Thinking that Jesus is waiting for me to come to heaven before He drinks grape juice again;
Realizing that it is very wrong for me to take the grape juice and cracker if I don't fully accept Christ and follow Him;
Usually participating in the Lord's Supper is for those who have been baptised, so I'll wait till I am ready;
Taking the ordinance of foot washing first as a spiritual cleaning in preparation for the Lord's Supper;
Reviewing in my mind why I came to Jesus and was baptised, and about His sacrifice;
Renewing my baptismal vows and spiritual commitment to Jesus and His church and mission;

The Lord's Supper is a participation in the emblems of the body and blood of Jesus as an expression of faith in Him our Lord and Savior. In this experience of communion Christ is present to meet and strengthen His people. As we partake, we joyfully proclaim the Lord's death until He comes again. Preparation for the Supper includes self-examination, repentance, and confession. The Master ordained the service of foot washing to signify renewed cleansing, to express a willingness to serve one another in Christlike humility, and to unite our hearts in love. The communion service is open to all believing Christians.---Fundamental Beliefs, 15
