BIBLICAL VIRTUE GROUP

Because I value God's teaching in the Bible, I choose to believe and follow its teachings.

What To Believe

Stewardship

The Bible teaches that God owns everything and that He gives me responsibility to care for all that I have. He claims the tithe (10%) for His gospel work and asks me to be generous in offerings to help people and to meet church needs.

I choose to believe the Bible teaching of Stewarship.

Definition

Stewardship related virtue: Generosity

Stewardship means: We respect God's ownership by giving faithful service to Him and to each other. We also give tithes and offerings to help the church spread the good news of Jesus' love and sacrifice.

We are God's stewards, entrusted by Him with time and opportunities, abilities and possessions, and the blessings of the earth and its resources. We are responsible to Him for their proper use. We acknowledge God's ownership by faithful service to Him and our fellowmen, and by returning tithes and giving offerings for the proclamation of His gospel an dthe support and growth of His church. Stewardship is a privilege given to us by God for nurture in love and the victory over selfishness and covetousness. The steward rejoices in the blessings that come to others as a result of his faithfulness.---Fundamental Beliefs, 20
