Student Life Applications

The Great God of Creation has chosen to speak to me through the Holy Scriptures, the Bible. I am eager to know what He says and what I should do. Because of that I will:

Hold the Bible reverently because of its sacredness;
Avoid putting other books on top of it or treat it as a common book;
Read it daily, learning from it about God and His plan for my life;
Search the Scriptures for answers to the questions I have in my life.
Tell others about what I have learned from God in the Bible;
Ask for the Holy Spirit to guide my mind each time I open the holy pages of the Bible;
Use it as a test to see what is true or from God;
Tell people what blessings I have received by reading it each day;
Encourage others to read it and be blessed;
Learn to show what I believe from it;
Fight the temptations of the Devil by quoting from it

Student Activities

1. God the Listener: Take the students to a quiet spot and ask them to write down every sound they hear during a three minute timed period. Read Psalm 10:17 and John 10:27 and ask, Did God hear all of the sounds you heard? Can He hear more than one person praying to Him at once? How do you listen to God? Etc.
2. Tell Bible Stories: Tell in your own words stories from the Bible. e.g. Esther, Amos, Gideon, Samson, John the Baptist, etc
3. Heros of Worship: Go through Old Testament book by book seeking stories of worship. Study in depth. How did they express their worship? How did God respond to the worship? Discuss how you get biblical concepts in any subject.

“The Holy Scriptures, Old and New Testaments, are the written Word of God, given by divine inspiration through holy men of God who spoke and wrote as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. In this Word, God has committed to man the knowledge necessary for salvation. The Holy Scriptures are the infallible revelation of His will. They are the standard of character, the test of experience, the authoritative revealer of doctrines, and the trustworthy record of God’s acts in history. — Fundamental Beliefs, 1
